ABRAAJ Capital has bought the North African private equity operations of asset management firm Amundi.
The acquisition included taking over management of the $161m SGAM Al Kantara Fund and the French firm’s 11-member investment team.
Abraaj Capital also acquired Amundi’s stake in the Kantara Fund, which is mainly focused on small and mid-cap investments in North Africa.
As part of the buy-out Abraaj expands its Middle East and North Africa presence by taking over the firm’s fully staffed offices in Morocco and Tunisia.
